Packaging History

Objective:
To tell and preserve the history of the Brazilian packaging, as well as to illustrate its development and the conquest of its excellence throughout the years.
To prepare this project, the association has created a multidisciplinary committee – Packaging History, involving a representative of each link in the chain of production of packaging.
The relationship between the changes that took place in Brazilian society and history in the packaging industry in Brazil during the twentieth century is the central theme of the book "History of Packaging in Brazil," released by ABRE on 30 March 2006 and distributed to the members, government agencies, public and private colleges.
The book is structured by journalist Ethel Leon, professor of Design History course at the University of Campinas (Facamp) and member of the Advisory Board of the Centro de Design de São Paulo. With an innovative proposal is the first book to address how rapid urbanization, the changing role of women in society, the development of new forms of consumption and trade in the country, the product packaging that epoch and that are related to the emergence of new forms, new shapes, new functions and new packaging materials in Brazil. In this work, the packaging is understood from its role in society, and highlighted products that epoch and that still exist today but also those that have changed.
Besides conducting field research in different regions of the country, the work containing a very didactic and accessible content, it tells cases which show how people's lives is associated with the packaging they use.
Historical research and editing of the book was done by Griffo Projetos Históricos e Editoriais, which specializes in brokering and coordination of projects approved by the laws to encourage culture and its latest creation was a work for the Institute Fernando Henrique Cardoso.
